A Latte Stands Between Us

Last week, Senator Barack Obama became the first black person to win the nomination of a major party in American history. It made headlines everywhere. One fact that didn't make the headlines: Senator Obama was also the first post-boomer to win the nomination of a major party.

The current generation of young adults 18-25 have gone through many labels. Generation Y, The MTV Generation, The Paris Hilton Generation, among others. Perhaps the only appropriate label would be Generation F**ked. Never has a generation been so since the great depression. In the last eight years THIS generation has been billed a multi-trillion dollar war. We've seen the economy crash as we get ready to go out into the workforce. We've been dealt record high gasoline prices, as we get paid $40 a week for gas money to attend our non-paid internships, which actually might NOT help us land that entry level position we hope for. Even those student luxuries like international semesters abroad have been shot to shit with a declining dollar.

To save us, we need someone who understands us. It's hard to say at this point if that person is Barack Obama. However, last year when I saw him at a rally in Washington Square Park, I felt more of a connection to him than any other politician I've heard and seen in person or in the media (and yes, I have seen Hillary Clinton give a speech in person.)

Be a Nigg*r too Video

Now that the dust has settled from the controversy over the title of Nas' 9th studio album, the video for his first single "Be a Nigg*r too" is all over the net.

Nas is definitely not shy when it comes to using the n-word in this track. Lyrics: "I'm a nigg*r, he's a nigg*r, she's a nigg*r, we some nigg*rs. Wouldn't you like to be a nigg*r too?"

But is Nas really taking power away from the n-word? Or is this another over zealous attempt to reprieve social injustice? Here is what he said to MTV News:

"I wanna make the word easy on mutha----as' ears," he explained. "You see how white boys ain't mad at 'cracker' 'cause it don't have the same [sting] as 'nigger'? I want 'nigger' to have less meaning [than] 'cracker.' With all the bullsh-- that's going on in the world, racism is at its peak. I wanna do the sh-- that's not being done. I wanna be the artist who ain't out. I wanna make the music I wanna hear.

Stay tuned for the Nas interview with Pearl.

Pearl? Yep.

She's Kissing Girls

Used to sing about God in church, now she's singing about kissing girls.

Katy Perry, who is signed to Capital Records, released the first single, "I Kissed a Girl," from her debut album, "One of the Boys." And already, it's making a steady climb up the Billboard Hot 100. It went from #76 to #4 in the less than 8 weeks since its release. Beating out Rihanna's "Take a Bow @ #5" and catching up to Lil' Wayne's -"Lollipop @ #1."

Pearl?
Well, I likey. It's so damn catchy. My girl Crystal and I were blasting it in the car down the boulevard a couple days ago. But what do YOU think?

Without further ado...

My last year in college proved to be harder than I anticipated. But on May 23rd, I graduated! And now WE'RE BACK and still PEARL-ICIOUS!

Remember Ray Lavender serenading me a while back. Well, here is his NEW VIDEO "Stay."

Pearl?

I'd say not. The "rain" scene at the end seemed a bit low-budget. And I'm still trying to figure out which chick is the "main chick." Is it just me?

The Hardest Part About Being Me

Certain things always seem to happen to other people and never to me. This
is why for a long time I had a hard time coming to turns with what was
happening to me.
