Kanye West's Mother Dies
Submitted by thePearlMag on Mon, 11/12/2007 - 04:06.Donda West,mother of Kanye West and former chairwoman of Chicago State University's English department, passed away on Saturday from undisclosed causes a spokesmanfor Kanye and his family said. She was 58.
Apparently, West was in Los Angeles and “her death may have been the result of complications from a surgical procedure,” according to MTV.com.
“Although widely known as the mother of Kanye, Dr. West was a noted scholar and an active college professor for 31 years; she left the profession in 2004 to assist with Kanye's career, according to her biography on the Web site of the Kanye West Foundation, an educational nonprofit of which she was chair. She was also chief executive of West Brands, the parent company of her son's businesses.”

It’s undeniable that Barack Obama has already made history.He’s the 5th African American Senator in U.S. history. The only African American currently serving in the U.S. Senate. In 1990, The New York Times reported his election as the Harvard Law Review’s “first black president in its 104 year history.” He was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 1996. In 2000, he made an unsuccessful Democratic primary run for the U.S. House of Representatives a seat held by four term incumbent
candidate Bobby Rush.
He was overwhelmingly re-elected to the Illinois Senate in 1998 and 2002, resigning in November 2004 following his election to the U.S. Senate. He has authored two best selling books, “Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance” a book that Time Magazine’s Joe Klein wrote “may be the best written memoir ever produced by an American politician,” and “The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream.” If that’s not enough, in February of this year he announced his candidacy in the 2008 presidential election.
